Xiaomi Mi A1 (Global Mi 5X) – The Highlights

Xiaomi Mi A1 greatest highlight and the only difference from Mi 5X is the Android One OS (Android 7.1.w). It’s the first phone with Xiaomi and Google collaboration. Mi A1 also has a tagline:

Created By Xiaomi, Powered By Google

Xiaomi Mi A1 Flagship released Android

For those know don’t know what Android One is, let us tell you that it’s based stock Android with default pre-installed apps and optimization, unlike MIUI. Plus, Google is also releasing the Nougat update soon for Android One. However, the custom stock Android OS has some advantages and disadvantages:

Android One Advantages:

  • Unlike MIUI, user don’t have to wait for the updates, as Google is in charge, the latest updates will be provided in no time
  • Pure Android Experience with rare bugs
  • Unique flagship with unique OS, despite all other Xiaomi smartphones running on MIUI.

Android One Disadvantages:

  • It’s not faster and simpler than MIUI 9
  • Not a true Xiaomi experience

The second highlight is the rear dual camera setup of Mi A1 similar to iPhone 7 Plus and Mi 5X. We witness a 12MP Telephoto + 12MP Wide angle dual camera. The photos and video captured are way better than any other Xiaomi smartphone in India supporting 2x digital zoom. Meanwhile, on the front, we have the 5MP selfie shooter with beauty mode.

Concerning specs, the heart of the flagship is Snapdragon 625 coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage (TF card supported). The phone forges from three-staged metal design. It’s powered by a generous 3080mAh battery and charges via USB Type-C port. This time Xiaomi has provided a dedicated 380V charger which can tolerate India’s frequent power changes. Let’s hope Xiaomi smartphone blast cases decreases this time.
