Today, a famous leakster on Weibo announced everything we can expect from Apple when it comes to Apple iPhone, MacBook, and iPad. All the new products and changes will be coming within the following year. The updates will be rolled throughout the year. And, the most hyped iPhone 15 will make its way around the Q4 of the year 2023.

The Updates from Apple

Apple AR/XR Reality pro will be equipped with the xrOS, the internal code name for this OS will be the “Borealis“. It will be available in June 2023 and will be released at WWDC. The shipping will start in the fall of 2023.

Apple MACBOOK

The new Macbooks will be released in the first half of the year 2023. There will be two new models, 14inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro. Same as the previous year’s generation. M2 Pro and M2 Max chips may also get an update.

The maximum configuration user can get from the Mac Pro will be a 48core CPU. The company has canceled the M2 Ultra chip with core GPU. However, the appearance is consistent with Mac Pro 2019. It will be still equipped with two SSD slots.

The situation regarding the iMac Pro is still unclear. Moreover, the new 24inch iMac will have the M3 chip and will be hitting the shelves from 2023 to 2024.

Apple iPad Mini 6

As for the Apple iPad, we might not see any major improvement in the product line. The more powerful iPad Pro will not be released this year. Furthermore, the 11inch and 12.9inch iPad Pro will not be updated any time soon. Fans would have to wait until 2024. Whereas, the regular iPads will receive hardware upgrades.

Surprisingly, the famous and most trusted 12-inch MacBook is not on Apple’s list to upgrade. Whereas, the 15inch MacBook will receive a major update in the following year.

The latest innovation in the iPhone lineup, Dynamic Island will become a standard in the iPhone 15 lineup. The Pro models will be using the titanium body frame, tactile volume buttons, and maybe a USB-C interface.

What new products are you looking forward to from Apple? What is the best upgrade according to you?

  1. The WWDC23 Apple event delivered few unexpected surprises in terms of new apple product lineup and upgrades vs prior gen. The biggest surprise of all was seeing Mac Studio getting an upgrade together with Mac Pro and without offering any differences. There’s definitely a risk of product cannibalization here, Mac Pro sales I believe will get hit very hard.
M2 Ultra chip on both models…So what are the users paying the extra $3k? Seems like the extra $3K price tag on Mac Pro vs Ultra is just for the extra internal PCIe slots? This is a very costly mistake Apple is making! Marketing-wise how do you differentiate the two?
That’s how Apple is making serious financial and strategic mistake here with such a lineup by risking cannibalizing their most high-end product – Mac Pro and seriously undermine Mac Pro sales in 2023/2024. This was a great day for Mac Studio as there is no need to buy Mac Pro unless you need to have those internal PCIe slots. But, If a user needs an extra expansion and slots, that user can just purchase the older intel-based Mac Pro. It’s much cheaper, more practical and makes more sense to do..
For the new Mac customers in 2023-24, they will be better off with buying the cheaper Mac Studio that runs on the same chip, same specs and cores as Mac Pro. That’s why upgrading Mac Studio this time was a shock to many of us as we did not expect it this time.

Overall, Apple’s desktop product segment at the WWDC23 seemed a bit chaotic and we have not seen any major iMac updates yet. Apple needs to better streamline their processes to make sure they keep timely updating the tech that sells well and generates them big profits + keeps them loyal & dedicated fan base.
