Both iPhone 14 & iPhone 14 Pro Will Have Different SoCs | Says Ming-Chi Kuo

According to the well-known Apple analyst ‘Ming-Chi Kuo’, Apple is expected to have two different SoCs for both the standard iPhone 14 and the higher variant iPhone 14 Pro will have different SoCs this time.

Ming-Chi Kuo believes that like usually Apple will continue to upgrade its SoCs, moving from Apple A15 to A16. However, the upgrade will simply not be present in the non-pro/standard variant of the iPhone 14. The two Pro variants including iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will feature the new Apple A16 SoC while the standard variants will be powered by the old Apple A15 SoC.

Furthermore, we will also see a difference in the Pro version which will be using LPDDR5, and the non-Pro version to use LPDDR4X. LPDDR5 has a faster data transfer speed and saves about 30% energy.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the naming of Apple’s iPhone will also change this year. The Pro version is named iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, and the non-Pro version is named iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max.

As for the size, the screen of the regular version is 6.1 inches, the Max version is 6.7 inches, and the mini version will be canceled by Apple.
