[Exclusive] MediaTek Dimensity 400 Based on 6nm Process Leaked

This morning, we got a mail containing an image that illustrated the timeline of the MediaTek Dimensity SoCs. Interestingly, the picture also revealed the two upcoming MediaTek SoCs which are the MediaTek Dimensity 400, Dimensity 600, and the ‘5G flagship 5nm SoC‘.

Though it’s obvious that MediaTek will release a 5G flagship-level SoC based on the 5nm process, next year, to compete with Qualcomm, Exynos, and Hisilicon 5nm SoCs. The surprising aspect which we didn’t expect is that the upcoming MediaTek Dimensity 400, which is an entry-level SoC (according to the numbering), will be based on the 6nm process and another mid-end SoC which is MediaTek 600  based on 7nm process.

If the leaked image is real then we might be seeing ‘the most power-efficient SoC’ on the planet beating Qualcomm’s 7nm Snapdragon 765 and 765G. Moreover, since it’s from the MediaTek 4xx series which has low mid-end specs, the price of the SoC might be incredibly low. Apart from this, if it supports integrated 5G networking, this SoC might further decrease the price of 5G smartphones in 2021.

The image also reveals the MediaTek Dimensity 400 release date as well as MediaTek 5G flagship SoC (Dimensity 2000) release date. Dimensity 400 will release between Q4, 2020, and Q1, 2021, while Dimensity 2000 will launch in Q1, 2021. The first SoC to release among the three will be Dimensity 600 debuting in Q3, 2020.
