MediaTek Dimensity 700 vs Snapdragon 720G – Release Date Comparison

Regarding release dates, it is obvious that Dimensity 700 has a great advantage over the Snapdragon 720G. This processor was shown to the world a very very short time ago, since it was just a couple of days ago, on November 10, 2020. Having said that, and although the Snapdragon 720G was not presented long ago, it does have time hanging around the market, since it was presented at the beginning of the year, on January 20, 2020.

MediaTek Dimensity 700 vs Snapdragon 720G – Process Comparison

Before we start talking about these two processors, it should be noted that they are very similar. Now having that cleared up, let’s get started talking about its internal specs. Regarding its process, the SoC made by MediaTek works along with a 7nm LPP FinFET process made by TSMC, while the SoC made by Qualcomm has an 8nm LPP process made by Samsung. It is worth remembering that, the lower the number, the better the processor, and with more power will work.

Also, and according to the officials, the 7nm process is 28% more efficient than the 8nm process, so the MediaTek Dimensity 700 gets to be the winner in this category.

Winner: MediaTek Dimensity 700

MediaTek Dimensity 700 vs Snapdragon 720G – CPU Comparison

Getting to talk about the CPU inside these processors, both have a dual-cluster, octa-core design CPU, which is distributed as follows (2 + 6) in the MediaTek Dimensity 700:

  • 2x Cortex A76 high-performance cores running at a speed of @2GHz
  • 6 x Cortex A55 power-efficient cores running at a speed of @2.0GHz

On the other hand, and although it was mentioned that the Snapdragon 720G has the same design, it is distributed in a slightly different way, and it is as follows:

  • 2x Cortex A76 high-performance cores running at a speed of @3GHz
  • 6 x Cortex A55 power-efficient cores running at a speed of @1.8GHz

Now, having seen the CPUs that these two processors bring, comes the question of which SoC works with greater power. When looking at the individual cores, it can be seen that the two high-performance cores of the Snapdragon 720G work with a slightly higher speed, however, when seeing the whole picture, and with its 8 cores running at the same time, the Dimensity 700 it has a bit more power, making it the winner in this category, plus the 7nm process it has gives it extra power.
