MediaTek Helio G95 release date is September 1, 2020. The SoC is expected to release in Realme 7. Snapdragon 720G release date is January 20, 2020. Redmi Note 9 Pro was one of the first phone to feature this SoC. MediaTek Helio G95 vs Snapdragon 720G – Process Comparison MediaTek Helio G95 process is 12nm LPP FinFET developed by TSMC. It’s the same as Helio G90T. Snapdragon 720G process is 8nm LPP FinFET developed by Samsung. Comparing the process, Snapdragon 720G has a way better process (lower the better) than Helio G95. This makes Snapdragon 720G to be more energy efficient, retaining better performance over time. Winner: Snapdragon 720G MediaTek Helio G95 vs Snapdragon 720G – CPU Comparison Both SoCs have a similar octa-core, dual-cluster layout consisting of 2 high end cores and 6 low end cores. To be specific: Helio G95 has: 2 x Cortex A76 cores @2.05GHz 6 x Cortex A55 cores @2.0GHz Snapdragon 720G has: 2 x Cortex A76 cores @2.3GHz 6 x Cortex A55 cores @1.8GHz Since the cores are the same, we will be seeing the frequency difference along with the process to find the winner of this section. In terms of single-core performance, SD 720G will have better performance than G95 because of 0.25GHz difference in max frequency. In terms of multi-core performance, Helio G95 will have better performance than SD 720G because of higher frequency of six power-efficient cores. Moreover, because of the 8nm process, the CPU performance over time of SD 720G will be incredible when compared to Helio G95. So, in terms of longer gaming sessions, SD 720G is recommended. Winner: Snapdragon 720G MediaTek Helio G95 vs Snapdragon 720G – GPU Comparison MediaTek Helio G95 features the same ARM Mali-G76 MC4 (4 cores) as the Helio G90T, however, the frequency has increased to 900MHz which brings 8% increase in graphical performance. Moreover, the SoC also features MediaTek’s HyperEngine Technology for low latency. In fact, MediaTek says that the latency between cocurrent WiFi and LTE triggers is within 13 ms. The Snapdragon 720G comes with the Adreno 618 GPU. The frequency is unknown but we expect it to be around 600 MHz to 720 MHz. SD 720G gives us the opportunity to get the most out of the games along with their HDR10 capabilities along with Snapdragon Elite Gaming features. Previously, Helio G90T had already beaten Snapdragon 720G in terms of graphical performance. With the frequency of GPU increased in G95, the gap has increased as well. So for better gaming, a Helio G95 phone is the best option. Winner: MediaTek Helio G95 MediaTek Helio G95 vs Snapdragon 720G – AI Comparison Moving to the AI part of this MediaTek Helio G95 vs Snapdragon 720G comparison, Helio G95 has a dual-core MediaTek APU @750MHz and also features AI camera features. It’s ancestor G90T with the same NPU has an AI score of 20.2 on AI benchmark. With the increase in frequency of GPU, the AI score will increase to around 21.0, however, it will still not be able to beat Snapdragon 720G. Snapdragon 720G has an AI score of 21.3 on AI benchmark listing with the dedicated Hexagon 692 DSP. Winner: Snapdragon 720G MediaTek Helio G95 vs Snapdragon 720G – AnTuTu Benchmark Comparison MediaTek Helio G95 AnTuTu v8 score is around 300,000 points on Realme 7. In comparison, the G90T scores around 291,000 points and Helio G85 scores around 220,000 points. Snapdragon 720G AnTuTu Benchmark V8 score is around 276,500 points. Winner: MediaTek Helio G95 MediaTek Helio G95 vs Snapdragon 720G – Connectivity Comparison Both SoCs do not support 5G networking. Helio G95 supports 4G LTE network with Dual 4G standby. 5G is not supported on MediaTek Helio G95. As for the 4G LTE, the maximum download speed is 600 Mbps and upload speed is 150 Mbps. Other connectivity features include WiFi 5 (AC) support and Bluetooth 5.0 module. Snapdragon 720G’s connectivity is way better. It has a X15 LTE modem (download: Cat 15, up to 800 Mbit/s; upload: Cat 13, up to 150 Mbit/s). Apart from this, the other connectivity features are insane for a mid-end SoC. These include the first mid-end SoC to introduce the WiFi 6 standard. Other include Bluetooth 5.1, Dual-frequency GNSS, NavIC, and FM radio. Winner: Snapdragon 720G MediaTek Helio G95 vs Snapdragon 720G – Camera Comparison MediaTek Helio G95 max single camera support up to 64MP along with multi-camera support. It also has multi-camera support and AI filters as well. Snapdragon 720G has the legendary Qualcomm Spectra 350L image signal processor, Dual 14-bit ISPs. It has a single camera support of a freaking 192 MP and 16MP+16 MP Dual camera support at 30fps with MFNR/ZSL. AI camera filters are present in this SoC. As we can see that max camera support of SD 720G is higher than Helio G95. Winner: Snapdragon 720G MediaTek Helio G95 vs Snapdragon 720G – Memory Comparison MediaTek Helio G95 supports max RAM of 10GB with a max clock speed of 2133MHz. However, Snapdragon 720G max RAM capacity is slightly less which is 8GB but the clock speed supported is higher which is 2300MHz. It’s rare to see a 10GB RAM phone in mid-end category, and 8GB RAM combination with 256GB is mostly used, so Snapdragon 720G is better with higher RAM speed. In terms of flash memory both SoCs support UFS 2.1 and eMMC 5.1.
