Ultimately, Apple’s AirPods are among the most popular wireless earbuds throughout the world, and because of that, many copies of these have been released by less popular companies. Among these, we have the QCY T8 and QCY T5, and today we will compare them to see which is the best in this new QCY T8 vs QCY T5 comparison.
Let’s talk a little about the design and appearance that these have, and it is that when we see them, we can see that the design they have is very similar. Both pairs are made of plastic and feature a partially in-ear design; I said partially since they aren’t completely inserted in the ears but the stalk part extends from the ear, is based on the design of the popular headphones released by Apple, the famous AirPods. These are available in a variety of colors, although the most popular versions of both are black and white.
These two earphones are made of plastic with a slightly glossy appearance. Along with that, they have a very minimalist design; On the earbud, we just see the plain texture with the R or L engraved, the charging terminals in mid, and the multi-colored LED found at the end of the stalk which only blinks while charging or while in pairing mode. At the bottom is the microphone opening for each earbud. When both earphones are paired, the dual microphones work together. Having said that, the QCY T5 have changeable tips made of rubber, while the QCY T8 do not.
Now, when talking about the wearing experience of these headphones, this one is very similar, because they both have the same type of design and both are made with the same type of material. While it is true that headphones made entirely of plastic can become annoying after a few hours of use, which happens with the QCY T8, it is also true that the shape of their body is specially made to fit well inside the user’s ear, so they can be used for a while without causing fatigue or pain.
With that being said, the QCY T5 has three silicone ear tips (S, M, L) which are suitable for almost every ear size. In relation to the tips, for some people those made of foam are a little more comfortable, however, the provided ear tips are super fine and allow a firm hold of the earphone in the ear.
About the charging case of these two devices, both are made of plastic, they can be charged through a USB type C port, in addition to having LED lights on the front that indicate the percentage of battery they have. With that being said, the QCY T8 case a slightly square design, which, in addition, has a small and light size, so they can be stored wherever it is needed, while the QCY T5 case has a more oval shape.
Likewise, the battery capacity of both charging cases is 380mAh.
When it comes to hardware, many people would think that some high-end chip made by some popular company is inside these headphones, and that’s the case for one of these two earbuds. The QCY T8 has an audio chip that was made by the great Qualcomm, and although its exact chip not really known, what it is known is that the QCY T5 works with a GreenRadio chip.
QCY T8 ….. Qualcomm chip
QCY T5 ….. GreenRadio
With that being said, one of the highlights of these products is the master switch added on each earbud. This means that either of the earbuds will serve as the main earbud and will carry the functions of the main earbud (play, pause, call, forward, etc.). This is a useful approach because if you lost an earbud or one of the earbuds gets faulty, one can easily use another earbud as a mono earphone with the same functionality.
Now moving to the sound quality, the reality is that you can’t expect professional audio; Remember that when buying any model of True Wireless headphones, you are dispensing with audio quality to gain comfort. In this sense, the QCY T5 works in a better way due to its 6mm dynamic driver, since the QCY T8 have a 13mm dynamic driver, so the sound they provide has a lower quality, and in addition to that, for well listening, you have to turn the volume up to its highest capacity, although they have the ability to provide better bass quality.
Having said that, by being placed correctly on the ear, these two earbuds are capable of keeping external noises moderately opaque, and that is that although external sounds could still be heard a little, everything can be solved by setting the volume of what it is being listened to 100%, which is performing in a good way.
QCY T5 has:
QCY T8 has:
There’s no microphone difference in all three earphones. They have the same mic.
The call quality is just average, nothing special. With that being said, the QCY T5 has CVC 6.0 technology to eliminate background noise, however, and being completely honest, it’s kind of useless. An excellent microphone is not what you will be getting in these two pairs of earphones but an average microphone.
Due to the use of Bluetooth 5.0 on the QCY T5, the connectivity of these earbuds to other devices is of high quality, while due to the Bluetooth 5.1 in the QCY T8, this earbud is capable of having greater stability, battery optimization, and have a faster connection speed. These two earbuds have a range of 10 meters of connectivity and, on top of that, we found that they can be used separately and linked in the same way. Also, they automatically connect after removing them from the box after being paired with another device.
Now let’s discuss the functions and features of these earbuds. In the QCY T8, we have things like:
In the QCY T5, we have these additional features apart from the above-said features:
In relation to the battery, and as mentioned before, the charging case of these two pairs of earbuds has a battery with a capacity of 380mAh, in addition to the fact that the headphones as such have, in the same way, batteries with a capacity 40mAh. In the case of the QCY T8, the battery lasts about 3.5 to 4 hours, while in the QCY T5 the battery lasts about 5 hours.
With that being said, both earbuds take about 1.5 to 2 hours to fully charge.
Finally, and to finish this comparison, we will talk about the prices of these earbuds. The QCY T5 is the cheaper of the two with a price of $18.71, while the QCY T8 is priced a bit higher at $19.60.
