Realme Unveils World’s First 64MP Camera Sample – 64MP ISCOCELL Bright GW1

Continuing the race to the highest pixel count, after Sony’s 48MP sensor as the former highest pixel count sensor (yes, former), Realme announced the world’s first 64MP camera arrival with the sample.

Realme CEO ‘Madhav Sheth‘ shared two images of a city photographed from across a bay on Twitter. One was taken with what the watermark says is a ’64MP AI Quad Camera’, meanwhile, the other one with a 48MP camera. Each image of the crop and zoomed to show the details of the picture.

Previously, Samsung also announced that it was working on a 64MP sensor for phones, also known as 64MP ISCOCELL Bright GW1. Looks like it’s Realme to use that 64MP camera and the shared sample is the proof.

OPPO’s sub-brand Realme isn’t that popular in the Western market. It’s already trending in India where it originated and came to China with the Realme X. If the Chinese company manages to release a 64MP camera smartphone, we bet the western market will definitely notice it.

With Samsung’s ISOCELL Plus technology, GW1 definitely improves the color fidelity along with an enhancement in light sensitivity. The technology also enables phones to equip 0.8um sized and even smaller pixels without the sacrifice in performance. The GW1 also comes with the industry-leading 1/1.72-inch, allowing it to be more light sensitive than the old 1/1.2-inch.

It should be noted that with pixel merging and  Tetracell technology and remosaic algorithm, the sensor produces 16MP images in a low-light environment and highly-detailed 64MP images in brighter settings. It’s something similar to Samsung’s 48MP camera. Maybe history is repeating and Sony might come up with the true 64MP sensor.

Now that the realme unveils world’s first 64MP camera sample, we just have to see which phone will get the prestige to feature one.
