Samsung Exynos 2100 – Process

Without a doubt, the process is one of the most important characteristics not only for a processor but for any smart device that has it. On the market, you can find many processors with different process numbers, and it is assumed that the lower the number, the better their general performance will be. The lower process numbers are saved for SoCs used in high-end phones, and it is no secret to anyone that Samsung is an expert in them, so the new Samsung Exynos 2100 has a powerful 5nm EUV process, which improves the performance of the device it is in by 10% and reduces its power consumption by 20%.

Samsung Exynos 2100 – CPU

When talking about the CPU with which this new SoC works, the Samsung Exynos 2100 has a CPU based on eight cores, and it is the latest ARM technology for mobile processors, released by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888. The Cortex-X1 is the main core of the Samsung Exynos 2100, running at a maximum frequency of 2.9Ghz. This core is accompanied by three other high-performance Cortex-A78 cores and four low-power Cortex A55 cores. Thus, the structure becomes 1 + 3 + 4, instead of the 2 + 2 + 4 that we saw last generation.

According to Samsung, the Exynos 2100 CPU performance is 30% higher than the previous generation, single-core is 19% higher, and multi-core is 33% higher.

Samsung Exynos 2100 – GPU

In relation to the GPU, Samsung is aware of the popularity of video games, so the Exynos 2100 launches in this sense the ARM Mali-G78, a chip with 14 graphics engines with which they promise a 40% improvement compared to its predecessor. The new ARM Mali-G78 is capable of supporting the Vulkan and OpenCL APIs, in addition to the experience with augmented reality, virtual reality, and mixed reality.

Likewise, this new processor also integrates AMIGO technology, which is basically an advanced multi-IP system (AMIGO) to maximize the GPU and CPUs without neglecting energy consumption even, and according to the brand, during demanding activities.

Samsung Exynos 2100 – AI

Now, talking quickly about the artificial intelligence options that this new processor provides, the Samsung Exynos 2100 was not going to leave out the neural processing unit (NPU) and in this sense, the brand has added a completely redesigned one. The new NPU has three cores and promises up to 26 trillion operations per second (26 TOPS), which in theory translates into twice the efficiency of its predecessor. This unit will work hand in hand with the rest of the processor for tasks that require AI, such as photography for years.

Samsung Exynos 2100 –Benchmark Score

Regarding the score that this new processor obtained in Geekbench, this being the only place where scores have come from, the leaker “Ice Universe” published on its official Twitter account the performance results of a prototype equipped with the Exynos 2100. It can be seen that the processor received a score of 1089 for single-core performance and 3963 for mononuclear performance.

In terms of comparative performance, the Snapdragon 888, which will be its biggest rival, was sighted with a single-core performance of 1135 and a multi-nuclear performance score of 3794. As we can see the multi-nuclear performance of the Exynos 2100 would significantly exceed that of the Snapdragon 888.

Samsung Exynos 2100 – Connectivity

In terms of connectivity, as can be seen in the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, the new Samsung Exynos 2100 has the 5G modem in its structure. This modem is capable of supporting sub-6GHz and mmWave spectra from 2G to 4G LTE, giving a maximum download speed of 5.1Gbps and up to 7.37Gbps in mmWave, thus achieving up to 3Gbps in the case of 4G networks.

Samsung Exynos 2100 – Camera

About the camera, The Samsung Exynos 2100 has support for sensors of up to 200 megapixels, in teams that have up to six lenses to process the activity of up to four sensors at the same time. All this combination of processors is prepared, according to Samsung, to improve the image quality of wide-angle shots, zoom performance, detail, and scene recognition. It also incorporates 8K video decoding and HDR10+ support.

List of Samsung Exynos 2100 Phones

So far, there is no knowledge about what will be the specific future devices that will have this new processor inside, however, Samsung said that the Exynos 2100 processor has been mass-produced, as well as confirmed that some of the mobile phones belonging to the Samsung Galaxy S21 series that will be launched soon will be the first to feature it. You just have to wait to see which of them will be!

Samsung Exynos 2100 – Price

Now, although it has not been confirmed, users assume that the first device to have this processor will be the first in the Galaxy S21 series, the Samsung Galaxy S21, which although it has not yet been launched on the market, could have a price of 833 USD.

The Verdict

Due to the powerful specifications that it has, this new processor has been compared with the best processors that have been launched so far, and it is no wonder, since Samsung has been seeking to position itself as the company with the best SoCs for years. There is less and less time to see the first smartphone to have it and, in short, we already want to see the incredible performance that it will provide.
