The primary focus of Android 8.0 is battery life, speed, and security. It increases the restrictions on the operation of the App in the background. This restriction extends the battery life of the Android device in sleep mode and also speeds up the OS.

Google says that the latest Android OS stresses on a better security. Moreover, the system speed has also been improved. The App loading speed has become twice. Meanwhile, there are some features added and improved as well including:

  5. Smart text selection

It also have introduced tips to use biometrics (face, fingerprint, and iris) when using a secure screen lock type (pattern, numeric password, or hybrid password). Biometrics cannot be used for unlocking and application verification when using non-secure screen lock types (sliding or not), such as Samsung Pay.

The last tip is to back up important data before upgrading to ensure security. Some applications need to be updated separately after updating, including Samsung Pay, Samsung Browser, Samsung Notes, and email. And don’t forget that 60 new emojis have also been added.
