How do I connect to a PC and smartphone (Android/iPhone)?

Connecting the headphones using the audio cable

This is the simplest way and has the best sound quality.

Note: You need to turn off the headphones (folding them) to use them via an audio cable. Normally when you have the cable plugged in while they are off (folded) they bypass the Bluetooth and NFC mode and run in flight mode. If they don’t you can do the following:

Step 1: Unfold the headphones without turning them on by pressing the multi-function button for 4 seconds while unfolding the ear cups. The headphones remain switched off. You hear the voice prompts “Power off”. The LED lights up red for 2 seconds.

Power off while unfolded

Or: Activate ‘flight mode‘ by pressing the voice assistant button while unfolding the ear cups and holding the button for at least 4 seconds. The headphones switch on without a Bluetooth wireless connection. You hear the voice prompts “Power on” and “No connection”. The LED lights up green for 2 seconds and then red for 2 seconds.

Step 2: Connect the 3.5mm jack plug of the audio cable to the headphones’ audio socket until it clicks into place.

Step 3: Click on the sound icon in your taskbar below, near the volume bar you will have to ‘sound output’. Make sure that you have selected “MOMENTUM 3” as the default output device.

If still no sound is heard you can rotate the cable clockwise.

These headphones support USB Type-C audio playback. But do make sure that your device’s Type-C port supports audio playback. Usually, USB 3.1 and Thunderbolt 3 and above support audio playback.

Note: You need to turn off the headphones (folding them) to use them via a Type-C cable.

Standby Mode

When you remove the headphones and place them on your shoulders, the headphones switch to standby mode to save power. When you put the headphones on again, the standby mode is deactivated. There’s no other way to make them go into standby mode.

Note: When the headphones are switched off, keep a minimum distance of 10 cm between the headphones and strong magnets, as the headphones may switch on unintentionally.

Sennheiser Momentum 3 Issues

Sennheiser Momentum 3 keeps pausing

The two things they recommend are:

  1. Don’t set them on your head right away. Turn them on, leave them on a surface for 5 seconds to let them calibrate their sensors, and then put them on your head
  2. Turn off the auto-pause / mute feature.

Sennheiser Momentum 3 low volume

A loose connection between the media player device’s audio socket and the headphone plug can cause problems such as weird static noises or too-soft sounds. Dirt or debris on the headphone jack/audio port can also affect the overall connectivity between these devices.

The Sennheiser Momentum 3 microphone is not working

The Sennheiser Momentum 3 only supports a microphone output over the Bluetooth connection. If the headphones are connected via Bluetooth, they should work fine. Also, make sure that you have selected these headphones in the microphone output sound settings in Windows.

Sennheiser Momentum 3 not charging

Make sure that all cables are well connected, both those that connect to the headset and those that connect to the power supply via the USB cable.

And the aux metal went so deep inside I can’t fox it. What kind of the headphones is this. Its keeps on tell ING me no connection

    1. Hi!
Please check the guide. We updated it. Also do not confuse restarting with resetting. Factory Resetting isn’t possible on this device but you can reset the settings like EQ, modes etc from the app.

  2. I too faced same problem. Solution is simple, take out earphone from box and you would get prompt to pzir throgh voice. Thereafter, open your bluetooth where this would be in the list to pair, click on it and you would get connected so simple, pamphlet is too confusing. cmpany should list this procrdure to start with.

  3. Please add a power switch to the Momentum 4 so I can put them around my neck at airports without killing the battery.

    1. If you hold down the multi-function for 6 seconds while they are on the headset will turn off

  4. i just got a new sennheiser momentum 3 wireless, and unable to go to the pairing mode after i connected it with a 3.5mm headphone jack.

And still unable to connect to bluetooth after i removed it from the 3.5mm cable afterwards

    1. Calvin, were you able to resolve your headphone not pairing? My new headphone is also not pairing. The instructions says hold paring button for 5 seconds and there should be “pairing” prompt that says pairing with LED blinking between blue and red. I don’t get the voice prompt or the LED blinking. After a few minutes prompt says “no device found.” My new Samsung Fold and 2 laptops don’t see the headset on discovery.
