Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Chipset debuts with 30% More Power

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile chipset has been officially released with the code SM8650-AB. It is the first chipset by Qualcomm to be specially built for generative AI, as it is the future of processors. The chipset is based on TSMC 4nm process, 8 cores, increased, energy and power consumption, has Adreno 750 GPU, better AI processing power, better video shooting capabilities, support for 24GB RAM, and much more.

CPU

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset is based on TSMC 4nm architecture. It has 1 x 3.3Ghz Cortex X4 large cores, 3 x 3.15Ghz Cortex A720 large cores, 2 x 2.96Ghz Cortex A720, and 2 x 2.27Ghz A520 small cores. As compared to the last generation, the CPU peak performance is increased by 30%, energy efficiency is improved by 20%, and power consumption is reduced by 34% while providing the same performance. 

GPU

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset comes with Adreno 750 930Mhz. It has an increased core size of 20% and power consumption is reduced by 38% while providing the same great performance. The graphics rendering speed is improved by 25% and energy efficiency is increased by 25%. It supports hardware ray tracing, Unreal 5 engine, Adreno Frame Motion Engine 2.0, and 240fps of mobile gaming. 

Modem & Connectivity

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset supports the Snapdragon X75 modem that is equipped with 2.5 times AI processing power. It has a 10Gbps peak download speed, and 3.5Gbps peak upload speed and supports 8 carrier aggregation (mmWave). The processor has 4 x 4 Mimo (Sub-6), and 2 x 2 Mimo (mmWave). It has a FastConnect 7800 mobile connection system supporting high band sync (HBS) multi-link WiFI 7 with a rate of up to 5.8Gbps.

For added connectivity, it has Bluetooth 5.4, dual Bluetooth, LE audio, and Snapdragon Listen with spatial audio (supports 48kHz lossless music streaming and 48ms low latency. 

Camera Support of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Chipset

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset comes with Qualcomm Sight Snapdragon imaging technology for improved camera performance. It supports a single camera up to 200MP, which supports 8K 30fps or 4K 120fps video shooting. 

AI Support

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Chipset comes with Snapdragon Smart (AI). It has Hexagon NPU, AI performance has increased by 98%, and energy efficiency has increased by 40%. The power consumption by AI is reduced by 43%, can run generative AI models on the device, and will support more than 20 AI models. 

Memory Support

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset supports 4800Mhz LPDDR5x memory up to 24GB. It also supports UFS 4.0 flash memory for faster data transfer.
