An event loaded with surprises

In a presentation made on December 10 (3 days after the launch of Snapdragon 765G), a more complete version of the new Redmi Smartphone, the Redmi K30 5G, was presented.

This phone’s main attraction is the use of the anticipated SDN 765G, an SoC with a 7nm lithograph and an integrated X52 modem, which translates into much more advanced performance with less battery usage, and in compatibility with 5G networks respectively.

In the performance section, Qualcomm’s bet has been a bit different with this new member of the 7 series, since it uses an octa-core design divided into a Kryo Prime Cortex-A76 of 2.3GHz, a Kryo Gold Cortex-A76 of 2.2GHz, and six Cortex-A55 of 1.8GHz, being a fairly energy-efficient CPU. The GPU will be an Adreno 620 and will be available in different memory versions that we will mention later.

At the design level, the Redmi K30 5G will remain identical to the 4G version, so we will see a 3D glass construction with beveled edges, a screen protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, and 4 (not 3 as its brother) colors to select: Time Monologue, Purple Jade Fantasy, Deep Sea Glow and Flower Shadow.

The bottom of the Smartphone has a 3.5mm Jack and a USB Type-C port, so we can use any type of earphone. Additionally, an infrared lens has been maintained at the top.

The huge 6.67-inch screen of this phone has a 2,400 x 1,080p resolution (a 20:9 aspect ratio) and can reach refresh rates of up to 120Hz, which makes it an ideal Smartphone to play smoothly.

The vertical quad-camera configuration is maintained on the back, but this time it has a 5MP macro lens instead of the 2MP of the 4G version, which leaves us a combination of a 64MP Sony IMX686 main sensor (f/1.89 focal aperture), an 8MP wide-angle lens (120 Angle of View), the 5MP macro lens and a 2MP assist sensor.

The fast charging of the Redmi K30 5G has also been improved to be able to afford a 4,500mAh battery. In this way, thanks to the 30W Quick charge, the battery will reach 61% of its capacity in just 30 minutes.

Finally, it is good to clarify that this terminal will come with Android 10 from the factory, which will carry the MIUI 11 custom layer, being at the forefront of software.

Redmi K30 5G for all wallets

The Redmi K30 5G will be available in 4 memory combinations. The first is 6GB of RAM + 64GB of ROM for 1999 Yuan ($284), then we have a storage upgrade up to 128GB of ROM for a price of 2,299 Yuan ($326). For the most demanding, there are also 8GB of RAM versions, one that combines 128GB of ROM (for 2,599 Yuan, approximately $369) and another with 256GB of ROM (2,899 Yuan, or $412).

We will have to wait until January for the Redmi K30 5G to arrive, but they took advantage of the event to announce that the K30 4G will be available in China from December 12.
