Home Reviews Previously after reviewing the Tonor TC-777 USB microphone and the Tonor T20 Microphone Boom Arm, here’s a review of another product from Tonor. This time it’s a TONOR TRL-20 12-inch selfie ring light and one of the best ring lights available on Amazon. Why? Let’s dive into the details of the TONOR TRL-20 12-inch Selfie Ring Light review and know the ring light better: What's Inside ToggleTONOR TRL-20 12-inch Selfie Ring Light Review – Is It Worth Spending Almost $50 For a Selfie Light?TONOR TRL-20 12-inch Selfie Ring Light Review – Specs SheetTONOR TRL-20 12-inch Selfie Ring Light Review – The UnboxingTONOR TRL-20 12-inch Selfie Ring Light Review – Design & AppearanceTONOR TRL-20 12-inch Selfie Ring Light Review – Performance & InterfaceTONOR TRL-20 12-inch Selfie Ring Light Review – Comparisons with other Selfie Ring LightsTONOR TRL-20 12-inch Selfie Ring Light Review – Pros & ConsThe VerdictPrice & Availability TONOR TRL-20 12-inch Selfie Ring Light Review – Is It Worth Spending Almost $50 For a Selfie Light? On the top and bottom, we have the main highlights of the selfie ring light marked. Opening the box, we find the Tonor 12-inch selfie ring light wrapped in plastic, along with many accessories. Though under $50 we deserve much more than just the selfie light, and this is where the accessories justify the price. Anyways, the accessories include: A tripod stand Mount Phone Holder Bluetooth Remote Controller A user guide/manual We do miss a tripod bag and some filters provided by other manufacturers with selfie light, however, this doesn’t mean TONOR isn’t generous. The tripod stand quality is what makes those 50 bucks worth spending. The tripod stand is aluminum alloy, with an expandable height of 410-1350mm/16-53 inches. Due to being forged with metal, this tripod can bear a weight of 3 kg and itself weighs around 680 grams. I remember that most of the metal tripods I ordered from Aliexpress didn’t have oxidation protection and that’s why the unpainted parts, rusted and the paint started scraping off. However, Tonors’ tripod isn’t like that. It’s well polished, undergoes sandblasting process to give the surface a shine, and the body is anti-oxidative which means no rust. TONOR TRL-20 12-inch Selfie Ring Light Review – Design & Appearance Similar to the other selfie rings, nothing is unique about the design of this selfie ring. This is a medium-sized ring with a diameter of 12-inch. It’s only one-way luminous. The thickness is around 1.18″, making it quite slim in comparison to other lights. I do like how Neewer used reflective silver sheets on the edges of the SMD lights, to prevent any light-blocking, however, in the case of TONOR TRL-20 I’m not sure. I haven’t opened it yet to fully examine it, but I’ll ask the manufacturer’s support. TONOR TRL-20 12-inch Selfie Ring Light Review – Performance & Interface Tonor TRL-20 provides three light modes (cool, warm, and natural). Moreover, there’s the color change switch and 10 step brightness adjustment present on the cable. The performance of the LEDs is incredible. The maximum brightness is 800 lumens while the minimum is 500 lumens. I didn’t see any difference on the luminous part. The light is constant, distributed equally, and even the edges are not dull, which is a major problem in most of the ring lights. As for its durability, I don’t expect its performance to decrease over time thanks to the overvoltage protection and electrostatic shielding technology. If any of the LEDs have fused before the claimed 20000 hours, there’s a warranty to cover it up. Moving to the interface, almost 90% of the selfie lights have a power cord. However, that’s not the case with Tonor TRL-20. The power and interface is the only one that is the standard USB cable. Thus, it makes me super comfortable to attach it to a laptop/PC, a power bank, or even the USB port on the socket since it’s quite long (around 2 meters). Moreover, another selling point of this Selfie ring light is the Bluetooth remote controller to control the phone’s camera wireless. The remote controller has two buttons, one for capture pictures and videos from an Android phone and the other from an iOS phone.
