On this page we have taken it upon ourselves to show you some of the best device comparisons found anywhere on the internet, and while we have already compared a lot of things, it is never enough. Today we are going to make a special comparison, and these are three of the most popular sports bands on the market, presented by the Chinese company Xiaomi and the american Fitbit. Welcome one more day to one of our comparisons, where we will see the great war of Xiaomi Mi Band 5 vs Amazfit Bip vs Fitbit Charge 4.
Starting this Xiaomi Mi Band 5 vs Amazfit Bip vs Fitbit Charge 4 comparison, we will talk about the pricing. First, we have the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 being the cheapest health wearable among these three. This product have a listing price of 181 yuan ($26). On the other hand, the Amazfit Bip has a price tag of 573 yuan ($82) and, being the most expensive one among the three we have the Fitbit Charge 4 which has a price tag of 1.244 yuan ($175).
Moving to the design section of the comparison, about the Xiaomi Mi Band 5, this wearable has an iconic elliptical (capsule) shape with a circular touch button. At the bottom, we have the PPG sensor and the charging terminals. It should be noticed that Xiaomi hasn’t changed the location of the charging terminals for the Mi Band 5 in comparison to its ancestor (Xiaomi Mi Band 4), but moved from a dock type charger to a much easy to use the magnetic charger. Now one can charge the band without removing it from the strap and avoid the loosing of the strap over time.
Now, talking about the Amazfit Bip, it should be mentioned that it somewhat resembles the iWatch released by Apple, and even has a physical side button that has been designed to resemble the screw of an analog watch. This watch was made in a rectangular shape, and the best aspect of its design is the 2.5D glass it has. The screen appears to be 3D as it is curved from the edges and, at the bottom, the screen has thick bezels, and the name AmazFit is embedded to show originality. It also has a fully sealed polycarbonate chassis.
Lastly, we have the Fitbit Charge 4 that has a screen embedded in a module made of polymer that hooks on both sides with the arms of a 29mm wide strap. This is a difference from the previous model, the Fitbit Charge 3, which had an aluminum module. In addition, one of the advantages of this is the customization of its appearance, since we can combine a body in two possible colors black and plum with different straps in a wide variety of finishes and materials that include silicone, fabric and leather.
It has an inductive button (not pressable, but sensitive to contact) that allows you to turn on the screen and go back anywhere. Since it is motionless, it responds to pulsation with a small vibration. If you keep the button pressed, you access a menu to activate Do not disturb mode, Sleep mode and Active Screen.
So, I do prefer the Mi Band series in terms of design. They look much cooler and has a unique and minimalistic approach in terms of design. With that being said, everyone has a different taste.
Going quickly to talk about the straps, all of these are made of pure silicone, and it is worth noting that the straps of all these wearables can be removed from the device at any time you want, either to exchange them or to wash them. In relation to their comfort, and because they are all made with materials of similar texture, they are very comfortable and soft to the touch. The only difference between these, apart from the color and their thickness, is that the Fitbit’s has a special pattern of lines in the shape of diamonds.
Moving to the second part of Xiaomi Mi Band 5 vs Amazfit Bip vs Fitbit Charge 4 comparison, now, we’re going to talk about their screens, and all of them have a different type and size of display. The Xiaomi Mi Band 5 has an AMOLED color screen with a size of 1.1 inches and a resolution of 126 x 294 pixels. Also, the Amazfit Bip has a transflective screen with a size of 1.2 pixels and a resolution of 176 x 176 pixels. Finally, the Fitbit Charge 4 has a screen with a size of 1 inch, which is based on a grayscale OLED with a resolution of 160 x 100 pixels.
It is worth noting that the screens have the Mi Band 5 and the Amazfit Bip have the important protection of 2.5D glass, which allows them not only to be resistant to scratches or bumps, but also improves the way in which you can see everything you see on the screens. The Fitbit Charge 4, on the other hand, just has a simple glass cover.
Due to the type of screen it has, and the variety of things and colors it is capable of presenting, the band launched by Xiaomi takes first place.
The Xiaomi Mi Band 5 is equipped with a 6-axis motion sensor: 3-axis accelerometer + 3-axis gyroscope. The 3-axis accelerometer is responsible for sensing front, rear left, and right (three-dimensional space), meanwhile, the three-axis gyroscope separate dynamic information that senses left and right tilt, front and rear tilt, and left and right swing. As for the Amazfit Bip and Fitbit Charge 4, they come with just 3-axis motion sensor.
With that being said, all three bands have NFC and a PPG sensor for HR detection and support abnormal heart rate alerts. The accuracy with be discussed in the features and function section. Xiaomi mentions that the PPG sensor has been upgraded in the Xiaomi Mi Band 5, making it 50% more accurate than the previous generation. This also means that it beats the other two bands since their HR readings were almost similar. As for the algorithms which help in the accuracy of the measurements, we have the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 with most updated algorithms, then comes Amazfit Bip, and the last one is Fitbit Charge 4.
Now, speaking a little about the functions that these three bands have, one thing found in the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 is that the user can customize the functions of the band, making it either a health watch only, a smartwatch only, or both. The Amazfit and Fitbit bands do have this as well but one can turn only specific functions like push notification, sedentary reminder etc.
As for the heart rate monitoring, the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 has the most accurate HR readings thanks to the upgraded PPG sensor. The officials say that the accuracy of irregular heart rate monitoring is increased by up to 50%. Then we have the Amazfit Bip which has better HR accuracy than the Fitbit Charge 4, because this one is a little bit simpler. Concerning the sleep tracker, the Mi Band has the most accurate readings improved by 40% compared to the other two bands. An extra feature that the Fitbit Charge 4 has is that it is able to establish connections with the highly popular music application Spotify, which is an extra point for all those music lovers.
Also, about the sports modes, all three have multiple sport modes. The Xiaomi Mi Band 5 has the most ones numbering around 11 modes including yoga, elliptical machine and rowing, while the Amazfit Bip comes at second with 10 modes like skipping rope, indoor climb, swimming and freestyle and, lastly, the Fitbit Charge 4 that has the least ones numbering 6 modes like outdoor running, treadmill and walking.
Here’s the summary of these features:
The Xiaomi Mi Band 5 uses the Mi Fit App, meanwhile, the Amazfit Bip uses the Amazfit Watch app and the Fitbit Charge 4 uses the Fitbit App. Each app is unique in its own way. The UI also resembles each other in most parts.
En relación a sus baterías, first we have the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 that has a battery life which is up to 20 days on a single charge. The battery capacity is of 125mAh and charges in 2 hours from 0% to 100%. The magnetic charging feature added is incredible. On the other hand, the Amazfit Bip has a battery life which is up to an amazing 45 days on a single charge, which capacity is of 190mAh that charges in 2.5 hours from 0% to 100%.
With that said, we have the Fitbit Charge 4 that has a battery life which is up to 7 days on a single charge and that charges in 1.5 hours from 0% to 100%.
Concluding the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 vs Amazfit Bip vs Fitbit Charge 4 comparison, We have a duty to remember that regardless of what we conclude, the decision on which band to buy will be made by each user. With that being said, and while Xiaomi did a good job with the Amazfit and the features it brings and Fitbit was in charge of providing its users with a high-quality sports band, the specifications of the Xiaomi Mi Band 5, such as a screen of great quality that is easily seen even in sunlight, a large number of sensors to help users keep their health in good condition and the algorithm with which it works, in addition to its simple but elegant design, give it the first place in this great battle.
