The successor of Redmi 4A is somewhat interesting, thanks to the stupendously low price. Xiaomi Redmi 5A features a 5-inch 720p display. The heart of the flagship is the low-end Snapdragon 425 SoC (Quad-Core, 1.4GHz) coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage (supporting MicroSD card up to 128GB). Furthermore, on the rear, we have the 13MP camera supporting PDAF phase focus technology. Meanwhile, there’s a 5MP front shooter as well. The phone is powered by a 3000mAh battery and supports Dual card. The best part is that the phone follows up the latest MIUI 9 upgrade.
The low point of the flagship is that it doesn’t feature any fingerprint reader.
Concerning the design and appearance, the phone appears to be a classic from the old Redmi series. The chassis is plastic which is somewhat cheap but it’s fine as the Redmi ‘A’ family is the best budget-friendly series featuring the lowest price. The phone inherits the tradition three touch-based LED buttons, rare speakers, and thickness. However, Redmi 5A weighs only 137 grams.
Moreover, the phone will be available in three colors: Champagne Gold, Rose Gold, and Platinum Silver. The price of the flagship is incredibly cheap which is 599 yuan ($91). Xiaomi Redmi 5A will start selling today at 6 pm and 10 pm (Beijing Time) at Xiaomi Mall, Xiaomi Mi Stores, Xiaomi Online Store, Jingdong, lynx, Suning Tesco, and some retailers.
