Xiaomi Taiwan: Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S and Redmi Note 5 To Release on May 8!

According to ePrice, Xiaomi Taiwan announced that it will hold a new Spring Conference in Taiwan on May 8. In the conference, Xiaomi will release two of its latest flagship. The flagships which will be releasing are Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S and Xiaomi Redmi Note 5. The price of the flagships hasn’t released yet. Xiaomi will announce the price along with the release on May 8.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 – The Specs & Expected Price

Xiaomi Taiwan appears to cover the low-end and the high-end category of smartphones in the Taiwan market. Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is a surprisingly budget-friendly flagship with a 5.99 inches FHD Full screen with 18:9 aspect ratio. The heart of the flagship is Snapdragon 636 octa core-core processor (14nm process). The SoC is accompanied by 3/4/6GB LPDDR4X optional memory and 32/64GB optional ROM. Furthermore, performance wise the SoC can score an impressive AnTuTu Score of 115247 points.

The battery is one of the selling points of the flagship. The built-in 4000mAh capacity battery supports the fast charge and can survive up to 3 days on a single charge. Redmi Note 5 supports dual SIM dual standby (dual 4G) and runs on Andriod 8.0 (MIUI9) supporting MIUI 9 full-screen gestures.

The camera is the greatest highlight of the flagship. Both the rear and the front cameras are worth praising. Getting in details, the rear camera is a combination of 5 megapixels (depth of field lens) + 12  megapixels (support Dual PD dual-focus, 1.4μm pixels, f / 1.9 aperture) AI dual-lens. For the first time, the camera incorporates the AI portrait mode, along with the algorithm-based single-photo background blurring technique. Meanwhile, the front is the 13 MP camera, supporting smart beauty.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 comes in three variants:

• Standard Version (3GB + 32GB) for 1099 Yuan ($174)
• Higher Version (4GB + 64GB) for 1399 Yuan ($221)
• Exclusive Version (6GB + 64GB) for 1699 Yuan ($268)

The expected price of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will be slightly high, around 5142 to 8000 New Taiwan Dollar depending on the released models.

Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S – The Specs & Expected Price

Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S is the high-end flagship of Xiaomi and the company’s best till date. It’s one of the most elegant smartphones you can find on the market. Xiaomi MIX 2S continues the previous generation of three-sided frameless full-screen design. The frame forges from 7000 series aluminum alloy material. Meanwhile, the back is made of ceramic material. It is available in black and white colors.

Xiaomi MIX 2S integrates a 5.99-inch 2160×1080 display. The heart of the SoC is Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, equipped with 6GB LPDDR4X memory + 64GB UFS 2.1 flash memory, the battery capacity of 3400mAh, running on the MIUI 9 system (Android 8.1). It scores 270,000+ points on AnTuTu.

Moving to the camera, Xiaomi MIX 2S features a rear 12MP+12MP dual camera as the selling point of the flagship. The main camera is Sony IMX363, the unit pixel area is 1.4μm, supports 2x optical zoom, portrait mode, optical image stabilization, Dual PD full-pixel dual-core focus. In DxOMark, it achieves a score of 97 points.
