How to Pair With The Earbuds On The Case?

Step 1: Open the lid of the charging case and take the earbuds out. After that, the “Power on” voice prompt will sound, a white light will turn on, and the earbuds will turn on automatically.

After a short while, a light in one of the earbuds will start to flash quickly and alternately between red and white, and the “Pairing” voice prompt will be heard. The earbuds will connect to each other.

When a red and white light flashes in one of the earbuds and red light every 5 seconds on the other one, they will be ready to pair with any device.

Step 2: Unlock the desired device.

Step 3: Download the Smart Headsets app.

Step 4: Open the Smart Headsets app and follow the instructions displayed on the screen to connect the earbuds.

Step 5: Turn on Bluetooth on the desired device.

Step 6: Go to the device’s Bluetooth settings.

Step 7: Select the “KENWOOD WS-A1” earbuds. If a password is needed, type “0000”. After that, the “Pairing successful” voice prompt will sound, a white light will flash every 5 seconds, and the pairing will be done.

How to Pair With The Earbuds Out Of The Case?

Step 1: Press and hold the multifunction touch pad on both earbuds for about 3 seconds. The “Power on” voice prompt will sound and a white light will turn on.

How to Wear?

Step 1: Take both earbuds out of the charging case.

Step 2: Identify the left and right earbuds.

Step 3: Choose the ear tips that best suit your ears.

Step 4: Insert the headphones into the inner canal of the ears.

Step 5: Rotate for the best possible comfort and best fit, and make sure that the microphone is pointing to the mouth.

How to Turn On and Off?

Turn on: Open the lid of the charging case and take the earbuds out. After that, the “Power on” voice prompt will sound, a white light will be on, and the earbuds will turn on automatically. Also, you can press and hold the multifunction touch pad on both earbuds for about 3 seconds.

  • Play or pause music: Press the multifunction touch pad on any of the earbuds one time.
  • Play the next song: Press the multifunction touch pad on the right earbud two times.
  • Play the previous song: Press the multifunction touch pad on the right earbud three times.
  • Turn the volume up: Swipe up the multifunction touch pad on the left earbud.
  • Turn the volume down: Swipe down the multifunction touch pad on the left earbud.
  • Answer an incoming call: Press the multifunction touch pad on any of the earbuds one time.
  • End a current call: Press the multifunction touch pad on any of the earbuds one time.
  • Reject an incoming call: Press the multifunction touch pad on any of the earbuds two times.
  • Switch between the earbuds and device during a call: During a call, press the multifunction touch pad on any of the earbuds two times.
  • Activate the voice assistant: Press the multifunction touch pad on the right earbud one time.

How to Change Between Sound Modes?

Left Earbud

To activate, deactivate, and change between the Transparency, Voice Enhancement, and Noise Cancelling modes in these earbuds, all you have to do is to press the multifunction touch pad on the left earbud one time.

Right Earbud

While in the off mode, swiping touch pad on the right earbud upward switches the mode to Transparency or Voice Enhancement Mode, and to Noise Cancelling when you swipe downward.

Swiping in the reverse direction switches the mode seamlessly from Voice Enhancement Mode to Transparency and to Noise Cancelling.

How to Activate The Mono Mode?

To activate or deactivate the mono mode in these earbuds, all you have to do is to pair the earbuds to the device and take out one of the earbuds from the charging case. It will start working by itself.

How to Charge The Earbuds?

Earbuds

To charge the earbuds, all you have to do is to place them into the charging case and close the lid. The earbuds will start charging automatically.

Charging case

To charge the charging case, all you have to do is to connect the case to a USB charger or charging port with the included USB-A to C cable. It will start charging automatically. Also, it can get charged using a wireless charger.

The Earbuds’ Voice Prompts

  • Power on: The earbuds turn on.
  • Power off: The earbuds turn off.
  • Pairing: The earbuds are pairing with each other.
  • Pairing successful: The pairing with the device was successful.
  • Pairing failed: The connection to a device has failed.
  • Connected: A previously connected device has been reconnected.
  • Disconnected: The connection with a Bluetooth device was cut off.
  • Make sure earbuds are connected. Try again.: The app was unable to detect the earbuds.

How to Delete The Earbuds’ User Data?

Step 1: Take both earbuds out of the charging case.

Step 2: Delete all pairing records of the “KENWOOD WS-A1” earbuds from the connected device.

Step 3: Press and hold the multifunction touch pad on both earbuds for about 3 seconds. After that, the “Power off” voice prompt will sound, a red light will turn on and off, and the earbuds will turn off.

Step 4: Press and hold the multifunction touch pad on both earbuds for about 10 seconds, until a green light turns on.

After that, when a green light starts flashing and turns off, the process will be done.

NOTE: User data that is configured in the Smart Headsets app and connection information of all devices that have been paired so far will be initialized.

How to Full Reset The Earbuds?

Step 1: Take both earbuds out of the charging case.

Step 2: Delete all pairing records of the “KENWOOD WS-A1” earbuds from the connected device.

Step 3: Press and hold the multifunction touch pad on both earbuds for about 20 seconds or more. The color of the indicators will start to change at first, but after you have held it down for 20 seconds or longer, and the indicators start to flash alternately and quickly in red and blue.

Step 4: Release the buttons.

Step 5: The indicators will switch to flash in a light blue color. Once it starts flashing, press both the multifunction touch pad on both earbuds two times. After a while, the indicator on the right earbud will start to flash slowly in red and the indicator on the right earbud will start to flash quickly and alternately in red and white.

After that, the process will be done.

What Do The Lights Mean?

Earbuds

  • A white light is on: The earbuds turn on.
  • A red light turns on and off: The earbuds turn off.
  • A white and red light flashes slowly: The earbuds are pairing with each other.
  • A red and white light flashing in one of the earbuds and red light every 5 seconds on the other one: The earbuds are ready to pair with any device.
  • A white light flashes every 5 seconds: The earbuds are now connected to the device.
  • A red light flashes every 5 seconds: The earbuds are waiting to connect to a device (unable to find the device that was last paired).
  • A blue light flashes: The voice assistant is responding.
  • A red light flashing while charging: The earbuds are charging.
  • Said light turns off while charging: The earbuds are fully charged.
  • A green light turns on, flashes and turns off: The earbuds are deleting their user data.
  • A red and blue light flashing while resetting: The earbuds are resetting.
  • A blue light flashing while resetting: The earbuds are resetting.

Charging case

  • A light starts flashing while charging: The case has a low battery.
  • Two lights start flashing while charging: The case has a medium battery.
  • Three lights start flashing while charging: The case has a high battery.
  • Four lights start flashing while charging: The case is almost fully charged.
  • All lights are on while charging: The case is fully charged.

A Guide To The Kenwood WS-A1 App

The Kenwood WS-A1 earbuds can be used with an application, called Smart Headsets. This application is available for iOS and Android devices. After connecting the earbuds with the app, the main menu will appear:

Here, not only will the percentage of the earbuds appear, but the ANC and Transparency modes can also be configured. Finally, at the bottom are the equalizer and the settings of the control buttons on the earbuds.

Some Common Problems & Troubleshooting

Left / Right / One side of the earbuds has stopped working

If this happens, it may be because it is low on battery or it did not connect correctly with the device. To fix this, you can do the following:

1. Try charging the earbud that is not working or both, placing them in the charging case.

2. Try factory resetting the earbuds.

3. Check if the earbuds are operating within a normal working range

If that doesn’t work, the earbud is probably faulty, and I can go for a refund or replacement of it.

Left / Right / One side of the earbuds has a low volume

If this happens, it may be because the earbuds are dirty or the volume is set low. To fix this, you can do the following:

1. Try cleaning the earbud using a cotton swab or carefully clean the mesh with a pin.

2. Try factory resetting the earbuds.

The microphone is not working

If this happens, it can be because the microphone is muted, or the earbuds are badly positioned. To fix this, you can do the following:

If the microphone is muted, check the device microphone volume. If that doesn’t work, that means that there might be a defect in the earbud, so try replacing them or get a refund.

The earbuds are not connecting to Windows/laptop/PC

If the earbuds are earbuds not connecting, it can be because the Bluetooth on the computer has a pairing problem. To fix this, you can do the following:

1. Try disabling Bluetooth from nearby devices >>> then activate the pairing mode of the earbuds, pair and connect earbuds from Settings >>> Bluetooth & other devices >>> Add a new device >>>> select Bluetooth.

2. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the Bluetooth driver, or updating the Bluetooth driver. All can be done in Manage >>> Device Manager, reset earbuds (if available), and then repeat the step.

3. Try resetting the earbuds.
