Coming to the camera performance in this Redmi 7 review, the camera configuration is general. The phone uses the 12 MP AI double camera, f/2.2 aperture, 1.25μm large pixels provide a relatively good photosensitive. The secondary camera is 2MP, f/2.0. There’s no OIS. However, the camera supports 120 fps slow-motion video. Meanwhile, the front camera has been upgraded from 5MP to 8MP. Xiaomi doesn’t provide details of the camera samples.

The camera specs are of entry-level. Let’s move to the actual samples to know the camera better.

Daylight Samples (7/10)

It can be seen that under the conditions of sufficient light during the day, the photograph of the Redmi 7 is excellent as an entry-level camera. Petals, leaves, and buildings can be clearly shot and appear clear. Some of the details are missing especially around the borders. However, it’s normal for a low-end device.

Macro Mode (8/10)

Due to the large pixel, Redmi 7 macro shots were incredible despite the small aperture and entry-level specs. Large pixel relatively provides good photosensitive. Even in the previous images, shooting short distances, especially macro objects, is better. When the object is slightly farther away, the image gets disturbed.

Nightlight Samples (5/10)

The low light performance is just satisfactory in comparison to the daylight performance. Background noise can be seen in the images, especially the areas where’s more darkness. Even in the light source such as the illuminated Chinese letters, the camera failed to adjust the light under the environment.

However, the performance wasn’t that bad as expected. Even in a low light environment, the places were easily recognizable despite no details in it.

To be honest, if you are much concerned with photography, Meizu M6T is a better option with the best low light performance in low-end smartphones.
