Just as it had been rumored for some time, MediaTek launches a new range of SoC, the G90 series, which arrives with the new Helio G90 and Helio G90T. These are two gamers processors for the mid-range, with 12 nm lithography. On the other hand, there is a new Samsung mid-range processor in the room: the Exynos 9611.
Exynos 9611 inherits virtually all its characteristics from its predecessor including its 10 nm lithography. So now has come the time for an Exynos 9611 vs Helio G90t SoC Comparison
First off let us start with the process technology which determines the power consumption and performance of the SoC. Keep in mind the lower the number the better is the performance as well as battery life efficiency.
Exynos 9611 uses a 10nm process, not unlike its predecessor the Exynos 9610. Although it does not represent a huge change in regards to the previous iteration Samsung does promise “better performance as well a better battery efficiency.”
Next up is the Helio G90t which uses a 12nm the same as its counterpart Helio G90 although very similar in its architecture we have to highlight the fact that G90t Gpu beats its brother by 80mhz (being G90 720mhz and the G90t 800mhz).
Being that Exynos 9611 boasts a 10nm process in comparison with its competitor the helio G90t we can surely see the advantages that it provides in turns of performance and battery life something that we come to expect in this range of phones.
Moving on to the CPU section the Exynos 9611 boast an octa-core design, to be more precise, it comes with 4 high-end cortex A73 running at 2.3GHz and 4 Mid-End Cortex A53 running at 1.7GHz
Meanwhile, the Helio G90t also opts for an Octa-core design although this time when it comes to the distribution the device come with 2 x high-end Cortex-A76 running at 2.05GHz and 6 x Cortex-A55 running at 2GHz
When comparing the two side by side we can see that that the Helio G90t has a slight advantage of at least 3.21% when compared to Exynos 9611 making it the winner of this round.
Now we arrive in the GPU section, in here we can see that the Helios comes with Mali-G76 MP4 which in comparison with its previous iteration the mali Mali-G72 Mp3 it offers twice the performance per cluster and according to ARM it offers improvements in the machine learning efficiency and a bigger tile buffer for 16x anti-aliasing.
Since its competitor still comes included with the Mali-G72 mp3 (the previous iteration) it becomes clear that the helios have an edge when it comes to graphical processing making it come out on top.
In this phase, the Helio G90t, as well as the Exynos 9611, come with an integrated NPU, however, Helio comes packed with a 2x APU +1TOPs total perf. Samsung, however, doesn’t seem all that interested in that technology although they do claim they have integrated it in this device.
Since the Helio seems to be catching up with the latest trends it makes it the clear winner of this round
When it comes to connectivity both devices are head to head. They both come with integrated LTE Cat 12, the both reach a download speed of 600Mbps as well as an upload speed of 150mbps.
Since both devices are pretty much identical in this regard, we have no choice but to declare it a tie.
Helio has a greater memory capacity in comparison with its competitor as well as a greater ram speed. The Helio G90t boast a 2133MHz in RAM Speed, meanwhile, the Exynos9611 only comes with a RAM speed of 1600MHZ. Being that said they both come with standard Wi-Fi connections as well as the integrated LTE connection.
Since Helios comes with numerous quality of life upgrades it is fair to say it has a clear edge over its competitor in this regard so the round goes to the Helio G90t hands down.
When it comes to price in the mid-range devices, both companies(being mostly Samsung and xiaomi in this case) tend to have very similar prices ranges, however, Xioami tends to have a lot more variety when it comes to its affordable mid-range gaming phones making it the clear choice for users who’s budget don’t tend to exceed more than 300$, although if this is not a problem you can always go with your personal preference. Being that said, Keeping the budget in mind we have to make the round go to the Helios G90t.
Through this review, we have seen that the helios take the crown in almost every category highlighting the fact that the G90t offers higher clock speed, more inherent memory as well as a cutting edge ai technology even for this mid-range device making it the more efficient SoC. However, this is not to say the Exynos is a poor competitor taking into account that it does use a 10 nm process which can make up for the general lack of processing power, being that said, the helios take a more appealing approach in the technical department. In the end, it all comes down to personal preference but as it stands the Helios
G90t seems to be the winner of this comparison.
