Recently, Huawei announced the Kirin 820, the successor of the old Kirin 810, which once dominated the AI-benchmark of the upper-mid SoCs in 2019. However, it looks like Kirin 820 continues to follow the same path as it ranks No.4 in the Ai-benchmarks. To see how good is Kirin 820, you can also read our comparison against its competitor ‘Snapdragon 765G’ in ‘Kirin 820 Vs Snapdragon 765G Comparison – The King of Mid-End SoCs?‘. Anyways, no doubt that since Kirin 820 is Hisilicon SoC, it will be limited to Huawei phones. So, let’s see which phones are rumored to feature Kirin 820 and which phones have already released:
Note: This list is not the final list and will be updated when more Kirin 820 phone rumors and official releases hit.
It’s simple! This is because of these reasons:
The phone from the Honor 30 series which has the official confirmation is the Honor 30S. Targeting the mid-range category, this Kirin 820 phone will be coupled with 8 GB RAM (LPDDR4X) and 128/256GB optional UFS 2.1 storage. For a premium feel, the frame is made of aluminum alloy and glass on the back. One of the highlights apart from the SoC is the 64MP quad rear camera. On the front is the 6.5–inch punch-hole display. The phone is powered by a 4000mAh battery and is charged up to 70% in 30 minutes thanks to its 40W fast charger.
Price: 469.99 USD
Previously, Honor 9X featured Kirin 810, then why won’t Honor 10X use the Kirin 820. Marketed as a mid-end gaming flagship, Honor 10X will compete with Redmi K30. We would love to see some new gaming optimizations done, a 120Hz screen refresh rate, a dedicated cooling system, 64MP quad-camera, 5000mAh battery (40W fast charge), and the continuation of the true borderless display. It might be a good time for Honor 10X to feature the UFS 3.0 storage as well. As for the pro version, we might see it coming out with the new Kirin 985.
Price: $400-$590 (rumored)
We know that the Nova 6 series is already out. But we didn’t saw the Nova 6Z or did we? Well, according to the rumors, Huawei is planning to release Nova 6Z in mid-2020. Since other phones in the series have already featured Kirin 810 and Kirin 990. Why not put the Kirin 820 in the 6Z.
Price: $420 – $500
