In short, the most important feature in any smartphone or smart device, in general, is the processor that is inside its body, since it is what makes them work the way they work and with the speed and efficiency with which they do it. Today we are going to make a comparison between three of the best processors that MediaTek has, and this is the strong and powerful war between the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 vs 1000L vs 1000+. In this article, we will show some of the characteristics that these three processors provide, and we will tell you which the best choice is.
It is worth noting that with the newly released Dimensity 1000+, there are already three versions of the Dimensity 1000 series, and the other two versions are the Dimensity 1000 and the Dimensity 1000L (even though by the official release, only the 1000 and 1000+ are the versions).
Before we start talking about all the features that these three MediaTek processors present to us, it is worth noting the moment when they were officially determined on the market. The Dimensional 1000 and 1000L were unveiled on the same day, November 26 of last year, while the new Dimensional 1000+ was unveiled just a week ago, on May 7.
It’s time to start with this great comparison of processors released by MediaTek, and we’ll start by talking about the process each one works with. All three SoCs are based on the latest 7nm LPP EUV process by Samsung. It’s the same process used in Kirin 990 and Exynos 990. The EUV process allows 10 billion transistors (10.3 billion transistors) on a board area which is 36% less compared to the previous generation.

Now we are going to talk about the CPU that is inside these processors, and Dimensity 1000 is the first flagship 5G mobile platform released by MediaTek in November 2019. This processor features four ARM Cortex A77 cores, running at a speed of 2.6GHz, and accompanied by four other 2GHz energy-efficient Cortex A55 cores. Having said that, in terms of CPU, the Dimensity 1000+ also features this same core configuration and speeds.
That being said, Dimensity 1000L has the octa-core design, which is divided into two: the first part has four ARM Cortex A77 based cores at a speed of 2.2GHz for heavy tasks, and the second part has another four cores with ARM Cortex A55 technology at a speed of 2GHz for handling regular tasks.
Now, while these three processors feature the same number of Cortex A77 and Cortex A55 cores, all four A77 cores found in the Dimensional 1000 and Dimensional 1000+ have a faster clock speed than the one found in the Dimensional 1000L, so these two take first place in this category.
Having talked about the above topic, we will go on to comment a bit about their GPUs. Here we can see something very curious, and that is that these three processors have the same GPU, and we’re talking about the ARM Mali-G77 MC9 GPU which is a nine-core GPU and comes under the ARM’s new G77 series of GPU. This new series that Mali-G77 has seems to be a bit more powerful than the series we have seen being launched in the past. Besides, the 1000+ version is also equipped with a HyperEngine 2.0 game optimization engine, which is optimized in terms of game fluency and low power consumption, continuous calls, delays, Bluetooth transmission, and so on.
The graphics are responsible, among other things that any smartphone in which they are located can support a refresh rate of up to 144Hz, being compatible with this type of display more oriented to the ‘gaming’ public.
Well, although much can be said about the power with which a processor has, we will never really know the way and efficiency with which it works until we know what score it obtained in AnTuTu, and that is why we will bring you the scores here of these three processors. In this, the Dimensity 1000+ got 530,000 points, while the Dimensity 1000 got 511,363 points and the Dimensity 1000L got 337,669 points.

Moving on to talk a little bit about artificial intelligence working hand in hand alongside these three processors, the Dimensity 1000 comes with a new AI MediaTek Processing Unit APU 3.0 with more than twice the performance of the previous generation APU. Offers devices a significant performance boost of 4.5 TOPS.
Likewise, the Dimensity 1000L also features APU 3.0, MediaTek’s new AI embedded in a chip; Thanks to this AI chip, the cameras sewed to the mobile mounted by this processor will be able to have support for focusing, exposure calculations and white balance, noise reduction, assisted HDR and, of course, facial recognition.
That being said, the Dimensity 1000+ combines APU3.0‘s powerful AI computing power and MiraVision‘s chip-level independent hardware, dynamically adjusting the contrast, sharpness, and color of each frame according to the AI scene recognition, real-time 4K video Frame-by-frame picture quality tuning.
Entering fully into connectivity, the Dimensional 1000 boasts 5G connectivity, both SA and NSA, with carrier aggregation capacity, that is, the ability to combine two signals from different operators on a single channel to improve data traffic. Besides, it claims to be the first with 5G capacity on two SIMs at the same time, achieving speeds of up to 4.7 Gbps download and 2.5Gbps upload, on sub-6GHz networks.
That being said, the Dimensity 1000L processor is capable of reaching a download speed of up to 4.7Gbps, as well as 2.3Gbps in download speed. It has 5G technology but is also compatible with the famous 4G connectivity, but the company has not been very specific in terms of speeds. It is also compatible with Dual 5G SIM cards.
Last but not least, the Dimensity 1000+ incorporates the 5G discussed above with downloads of up to 4.7Gbps in addition to Wifi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, and support for FM radio. Dr. Li Yanji, deputy general manager of MediaTek’s wireless communications business unit, said that Tianji 1000+ is equipped with MediaTek 5G UltraSave power-saving technology, and the average power consumption is 48% lower than that of competing products at the same level.
As for new technologies, the Dimensional 1000 boasts support for a camera of up to 80 megapixels with 4K video processing at 60fps, as well as dual sets of 32 + 16 megapixels, and claims to be the first chipset with multi-frame HDR video support, which would allow better video quality in difficult conditions.
With that said, the Dimensity 1000L has the world’s first 5-core ISP that came along with a “3 big + 2 small” design. This ISP makes the Dimensity 1000L compatible with the dual-camera configuration or the 80-megapixel single camera configuration, being the result of the combination of two 32 megapixels and 16-megapixel sensors, respectively. This ISP also has capabilities such as 4K HDR video capture, Bokeh videos, and many more things, but HDR10 + encoding and decoding are not mentioned, just as the Dimensity 1000+.
Also, in the photographic section, the Dimensity 1000+ will allow the use of single sensors of up to 80 megapixels, or dual 32 and 16 megapixels. Also, the chip-level MiraVision image quality engine it has can efficiently complete the real-time partition operation of 4K images, improve the high dynamic range of the video, enhance the ordinary SDR video source in real-time to the HDR display effect, and greatly improve the contrast, brightness, and details of the video image and clarity.
Although these three processors have the same camera quality and very similar specifications, only the Dimensional 1000L and Dimensional 1000+ have 4K video recording, this being a point in favor and what gives them first place.

After having talked about all the features that are found in these processors and that they provide to smartphones, it is time to talk about the last section: their price. Concerning this, the one that stays with the third place for being the most expensive is the Dimensional 1000 within the OnePlus 8 Lite, since it has a price of $496. In second place is the Dimensional 1000L inside the OPPO Reno 3, since it has a price of $472 and, in the first place, there is the Dimensional 1000+ inside the iQOO Z1, since it has a price of only $350.
As it could be seen throughout the article, and as the numbers confirm, there is no doubt that the Dimensity 1000+ is the winner of this battle. While these three processors are packed with great features and bring incredible internal specs to the smartphones they’re within, the 1000+ is the winner of almost every observed category, and it goes a long way in earning the title of the best processor between these three. The three versions of the products are not very different, but they can better meet the differentiated needs of mobile phone OEMs.
This can show value in the increasingly competitive mobile phone market; the flagship mobile platforms of three versions of Dimensity 1000, Dimensity 1000L, and Dimensity 1000+ illustrate the current mobile phone SoC competition has reached a higher level.
Having said that, we remember the same as always: the final choice of processor will always be in the hands of the user, and the special needs that they have when purchasing a smart device.
